How Does This Site Work?

If you visit our "compare" page you will see two entry boxes / drop down lists. The first is for the manufacturer of your phone. Once you choose a manufacturer the second box will show a list of all phones produce by that manufacturer for which we have found a price from a recycling company. When you select a specific model (the model of the phone you wish to sell) a table will appear automatically below listing prices offered by companies.

Are Prices Guaranteed?

No, every company without exception offers varying prices depending on condition and whether original packaging is to be shipped with the phone. The reason is that condition and packaging affect resale value. Most sites show not only the top price paid (mint with packaging) but also the lower prices paid for damaged phones etc. You need to use your judgement to determine which price is likely to be paid based on the condition of your handset.

Which Prices are Listed on This Site?

We list the best offer, i.e. the price paid for handsets in top condition with packaging. This means that comparisons are fair and accurate (as we compare the same price level across all manufacturers). It also means we are able to list the widest possible range of offers, as all recyclers take good phones, not all take damaged or broken ones.

What if an Unsure About the Condition of my Phone?

If you are unsure what price would be paid for your phone (it is borderline condition and you are unsure which price bracket it would fall into) the best thing to do is contact the website directly. Most are contactable by phone. Alternatively email them, and perhaps include some photographs of your phone so they can get a clearer idea of the level of damage / wear and tear you are concerned about. If you are unsure this is worth doing as most complaints about recycling companies arise for disputes over condition / price paid.

What if My Phone is Not Listed?

If your phone is not listed it will be for one of two reasons:

  1. Your phone is a very new model and not yet filtering down to recyclers (in which case you would probably fetch a better price on ebay or classified ads anyway)
  2. No one wants to buy it (usually only affects much older models which would only be worth two or three pounds anyway)

If you think you fall into the second group above then it will probably be easier just to take the phone to your a local authority recycling centre the next time you visit, most have collection bins for old phones and chargers. You wont get any money for doing this, but at least you will not cause any environmental damage.

Do You Get Paid Commission from Your Website?

Yes, we make a small commission for referrals to recycling companies. The amount is small and does not come out of or get added on to the amount you are paid. It will not cost you a penny more to use our site vs doing your own research. Money is typically paid out of third party marketing budgets, the same budgets used for TV, Radio, News Paper advertisements. Ultimately all these costs are passed onto customers, however, using our website will not cost you any more than going direct to a site after seeing an advert on TV or in a magazine, or for that matter being referred by a friend or word of mouth.
